On January 26-27, 2024, the IV International Olympiad for medical students “From the teachings of Abu Ali ibn Sina to the third Renaissance” was held at the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sino (the Republic of Uzbekistan).
Members of the VSMU student team won victories in the following categories of the Olympiad:
Trade union activists of the employees and students, members of the primary organization of the public association "Belarusian Women's Union" of VSMU took part in the IV interregional bike ride of members of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers of the Vitebsk Region, dedicated to the Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
On 19-30 March 2018, VSMU welcomed guests from the Republic of Kazakhstan - representatives of Karaganda Medical University: the Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Perinatology, Professor Abeuova Bibigul and the Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Surgical Dentistry, Associate Professor Tuleutaeva Svetlana, who under the Agreement on Cooperation between our universities gave lectures to students and academic staff.
XII Congress of the European Laryngological Society was held in London on 16-19 May 2018.
Neuro-Laryngological Committee of the European Laryngological Society awarded a prize to Marina Alexandrovna Krishtopova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Chair of Otolaryngology, for outstanding research in neuro-laryngology presented at the Congress of the Society "Neuroimaging of the voice: methods and protocols."
On March 29, 2016, the delegation of Maldives Medical and Dental Council visited our university. The President of the Medical and Dental Council Dr. Abdulla Afeef, official representative of the Council Mr. Murad Moosa and the Rector of VSMU A. T. Shchastniy, Doctor of Medical Science, held a meeting to discuss issues relating to recognition of our university in Maldives and future opportunities for cooperation and training the citizens of this island state at VSMU. After the meeting the delegation was taken around the university to see its material and technical facilities, attended lectures and academic classes, visited clinical departments of the university.
On November 26, 2024, the ceremonial closing of the third labor semester-2024 took place in the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.
As part of the event, the best student detachments, their commanders and commissars were awarded, including the labor affairs headquarters of the PO "BRYU" VSMU (Gratitude from the Vitebsk city headquarters of student detachments) and the medical detachment of VSMU "Heroes of Our Time" (Certificate of the Vitebsk city headquarters of student detachments in the nomination "Best student detachment").
A meeting between the academic staff of the department of pediatrics and students of the supervised fraternity of Jordan was held on the 18th of October 2018. During the meeting the academic staff got acquainted with the first year students enrolled in the VSMU on specialties «General Medicine» and «Stomatology». We discussed questions concerning study process in the university, public life, daily problems and needs of the students. The meeting was held in a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Similar meetings with students of supervised fraternity regularly take place at the department of pediatrics.

On October 11, 2023 the first vice-rector of VSMU Alina Shchupakova takes part in a meeting of the Republican Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Establishments. At the meeting, issues of improving the educational sector are discussed, taking into account the tasks that were determined following the meeting with the Head of State, held on September 21, 2023.
On the 9 of February, 2017 the meeting of generations of scientists was held in the National Academy of Sciences in Minsk. Vitebsk State Medical University was represented by the delegation including students, postgraduates and master students.
