In 2024, as part of the Republican competition of social youth projects “Youth of Belarus for life, morality and family values,” the university implemented an innovative educational project “Youth of VSMU for family values!”. Students-participants of the project organized and held about 10 dialogue platforms, conversations, exhibitions, and information events in the educational buildings and dormitories of VSMU.

On June 14, 2024, a regional scientific and practical conference with the international participation “Issues of pediatric ophthalmology: new about the old” was held at VSMU, which brought together leading experts in this field. Along with ophthalmologists from Vitebsk, the employees of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Healthcare Personnel at the Belarusian State Medical University, the head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Orenburg Medical University, the colleagues from the 10th City Clinical Hospital, the Children's Regional Clinical Hospital of Minsk, and the Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Mother and Child" shared their experience along with ophthalmologists from Vitebsk. The presence of the chief freelance pediatric ophthalmologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Professor V.L. Krasilnikova and the chief freelance specialist in pediatric ophthalmology of the Vitebsk region Antonenko T.V. made it possible for practicing doctors to get answers to their questions.

On June 14, 2024, a solemn Council dedicated to the Day of Medical Workers was held at Vitebsk State Medical University.

The event was opened by VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov addressing those present with a welcoming speech.

The Vice-Rector for Medical Work Maxim Savchuk made a report on the results of clinical work done by the university staff.

The work of the Council was attended by the Chairman of the Standing Commission on Industry, Fuel and Energy Complex, Transport and Communications, member of the Council of the House of Representatives Yuri Panfilov, the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Health of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Lyudmila Kovaleva, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers Vladimir Plytkevich, the General Director of the Vitebsk trade and production Republican Unitary Enterprise “Pharmacia” Ekaterina Boriseevich.

The guests of the event congratulated those gathered on the upcoming holiday, thanked them for their noble work and presented awards to a number of VSMU employees

On June 13-14, 2024, a republican scientific and practical conference with the international participation “Heart rhythm disturbances: current status, problems, solutions” was held at VSMU.

The event brought together more than 130 medical specialists from the Vitebsk region providing medical care to patients with heart rhythm disorders.

On the eve of the Day of Health Workers, a solemn ceremony was held at the Cultural Center of Novopolotsk to honor the best medical workers of the Vitebsk region.

The ceremonial meeting was attended by the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – the Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Sergei Levkovich, the First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Linevich, the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus Boris Androsyuk, the Head of the Main Directorate for Health of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Mikhail Vishnevetsky, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the BUHW Vladimir Plytkevich, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of VSMU Elena Asiryan, the heads of healthcare institutions, honored guests.
