For four years already, students of VSMU take part in the Forums of active rehabilitation conducted by the Republican Association of Wheelchair Users (RAIK). Students work as medical assistants, as well as participate in RAIK activities off forums.

This year, for the first time, an internship for the best RAIK assistants was organized by the leading Swedish specialist for spinal cord injuries Katarzyna Trok. Three students of VSMU were lucky to get into the first group of assistants for learning: Svetlana Nadzhafova (6th year, Medical Faculty), Kristina Volodko (4th year, Pharmaceutical Faculty) and Sergei Gorbylev (3rd year, Medical Faculty).

In April 26-27, 2018 the postgraduate students of VSMU T.G. Yupatova, I.N. Shchurok, E.V. Sidorenko took part in the VI All-Russian scientific and practical conference of students and young scientists with international participation "Actual Problems of Science of the XXI Century."

Tatyana Gennadievna Yupatova, a postgraduate student of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology for the scientific work "Influence of the Water Extract of Tobacco Cigarettes on Myeloperoxidase Release by Leukocytes and Cytokine Expression in Smokers with COPD"

Irina Nikolaevna Shchurok, a part-time postgraduate student of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology, for her scientific work "Provocative Nasal Test with Determination of Myeloperoxidase Activity in Nasal Lavage in Patients with Allergic Rhinitis".

Your Excellency, On behalf of Leibniz ScienceCampus "Eastern Europe - Global Area" (EEGA) I apply to you with some brief information about the Leibniz ScienceCampus EEGA, its orientation, and scholarship grants.

The ScienceCampus EEGA, established in 2016 under the direction of the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL), develops new research perspectives on Eastern Europe in its global relations. The special feature of the campus lies in the interregional cooperation of various universities and research institutions. The objectives of EEGA are to break up regional container thinking and the often one-sided information on Eastern Europe in order to offer a multi-perspective access to this world region. With the support of postdocs and the integration of a master's programme, as well as exchange with journalists, EEGA wants to convey this paradigm not only to a new generation of international researchers, but also to a German media landscape (see also www.leibniz-eega.de).

On May 28, 2018, the traditional fifth national seminar with international participation "V school on infectology" (hereinafter - the republican seminar) will take place in Vitebsk. The National seminar will be held at Frunze Ave., 27, educational establishment "Vitebsk State Order of Peoples’ Friendship Medical University", the assembly hall (2nd floor of the main building).

Leading specialists in infectology, molecular genetics, biotechnology and laboratory diagnostics of the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, as well as from Pakistan, Nepal, and USA will participate in the work of the republican seminar.

XII Congress of the European Laryngological Society was held in London on 16-19 May 2018.

Neuro-Laryngological Committee of the European Laryngological Society awarded a prize to Marina Alexandrovna Krishtopova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Chair of Otolaryngology, for outstanding research in neuro-laryngology presented at the Congress of the Society "Neuroimaging of the voice: methods and protocols."
