In June 11, 2018 a delegation consisting of Professor Germano Melissano - Head of the Clinic for Vascular Surgery of the San Rafael Hospital in Milan, a member of the International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, the International Society of Surgeons, the European Society for Vascular Surgery; James George - Vice President for International Relations, San Donato Hospital Group (Italy), and Polina Dombure - Member of the Management Board of Inpharmatis (Latvia) visited VSMU.
Guests had the opportunity to familiarize with VSMU, its material and technical base, visit the anatomical museum, as well as auditoriums for practical classes the departments of human anatomy, operative surgery and topographic anatomy, clinical microbiology.
During their visit the guests got acquainted with young scientists of our university, made a presentation of their own clinics, visually demonstrated the latest scientific achievements in the field of vascular surgery. An open dialogue took place, during which young scientists of the VSMU asked the delegation members a lot of interesting questions on different topics of medicine and healthcare organization.
At the meeting with the authorities of VSMU, the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of education, science, and professional development of specialists were discussed. During the conversation, a significant emphasis was placed on the practical training of medical students and on the possibility of training practicing doctors from the Republic of Belarus with new surgical techniques used in Italian clinics.
Both sides expressed interest in developing international cooperation, including through academic mobility of teachers and students.
