Doctors and students from VSMU are invited to participate in the newest project – BaltSurg. Baltsurg is a team of physicians, surgeons, residents, nurses medical students and patients who are interested in improving the outcomes of medical and surgical treatment of patients in the Baltic region and Worldwide by conducting international collective research. Our first project is focused on Surgery - “Predicting outcomes of general surgery in elderly patients - prospective international multicentre cohort study”. We invite anyone to join the research and get a chance to participate in a project that could change the way we treat every patient. As of know we are preparing the protocol and will be delivering all the information in December and the data collection would start in 2019 February or May.

Traditionally in autumn, at our university the XVIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Student Medical Science of the XXI Century" was held to summarize the results of scientific and practical activities of students and young scientists. This scientific event took place on November 14-15, with more than 200 talented students, undergraduates and graduate students from Vitebsk, as well as from other cities of the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation and Ukraine taking part. Students’ Scientific Society and the Council of Young Scientists of VSMU were the organizers of the conference.

On 14 November 2018, a festive atmosphere prevailed in the hall on the ground floor in front of 3 and 4 lecture halls of the medical-theoretical building of Vitebsk State Medical University. Here an unusual journey into the world of multiple cultures began.

Students in national costumes, sounds of ethnic musical instruments, unique objects, the smell of fragrance, laughter and countless selfies in exotic jewelry - all this filled the festival with special charm. It seemed that you could travel around the world within the same floor of your native university.

On 11-12 November 2018, the Chemical Faculty of the Belarusian State University in Minsk hosted 2018 Students’ Ecological Congress. 3rd-year students of Pharmaceutical Faculty Levchenko Ivan, Prokopenko Daria, and Sokolovskaya Lyudmila, and 2nd-year students of OSTF Volid Amani, Raniz Mohammed Aakib - members of Students’ Scientific Circle of the Department of general, physical and colloid chemistry of VSMU – took part in the work of the Congress. The scientific supervisor of the student team was Z.S. Kuntsevich, the head of the Department of general, physical, and colloid chemistry.

On 11 November 2018, Dr. Inderdeep Singh Pahal, Global Director for University/Institutional Partnership of Kaplan Medical Company, visited VSMU.
