World Bank specialists visit VSMU

On 15 January 2020, a delegation of World Bank specialists visited VSMU to discuss issues of organizing long-term care for elderly people in the Republic of Belarus.

During a visit to our university, the guests got acquainted with its structure, material and technical base, the structure of educational process at the departments of human anatomy and clinical microbiology, and were shown the anatomical museum.

While meeting with the university administration, the issues related to training and retraining opportunities for medical and social workers on geriatrics and long-term care for the elderly, the volunteer movement of Vitebsk State Medical University, as well as the work of the Healthcare protection Faculty were discussed.

During the discussion, the main results of medical and social projects on urgent geriatric issues conducted by the Healthcare protection Faculty of VSMU together with the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection, the Belarusian Republican Gerontological Public Association in the Vitebsk region were presented.

Further educational programs for social workers and the population on issues of healthy aging and long-term care for the elderly will be continued.
