On April 2, 2025, at Vitebsk State Medical University a ceremony of raising the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus took place on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.

The event was attended by the university administration, the chairman of the Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers Vladimir Plytkevich, the teachers, the staff and the students of the university.

The honorable right to raise the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus was given to Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service, member of the military-patriotic club “I Serve the Fatherland” Arseny Tsygankov, as well as to the distinguished students of the university: Nirmani Gamage (6th year of the FOST), Pyotr Bliznev (4th year of the Medical Faculty), Arina Zhukova (3rd year of the Pediatric Faculty), Elizaveta Ivanova (4th year of the Pharmaceutical Faculty) and Ekaterina Martynyuk (2nd year of the Dental Faculty).

Dmitry Kuzhel, the Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work, addressed the audience with warm words of congratulations. He emphasized that today Belarus and Russia successfully cooperate in the most advanced spheres - from space technologies to nuclear energy, from microelectronics to aircraft construction. This holiday symbolizes not only the common past, but also the confident forward movement based on mutual trust and support.

The VSMU pop song studio performed musical numbers, having performed compositions “Krayina mary mai” and “Traba trymatsatsa razam”, which became a bright conclusion of the holiday.
