The employees and students of VSMU joined the action “Children of Belarus - to veterans and future generations” within the framework of the project “Living memory of grateful generations”, having collected commemorative coins, which will be sent to Moscow and will become a part of the monument in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
Two of the three planned sculptural compositions have already been unveiled within the framework of the project “Living Memory of Grateful Generations”: in 2022 in Minsk on the embankment in Victory Park (in the Year of Historical Memory) and in 2024 in Brest Fortress near the Youth Patriotic Center (to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders).
The third memorial sign, which will be the final element of the project, will be installed in Moscow by the Victory Day anniversary on May 9, 2025. It symbolizes the link between generations and the continuity of the memory of the Soviet people's feat of arms. As in previous cases, Soviet coins, donated by Belarusians and Russians as a sign of gratitude to the generation of winners, will be added to the alloy for the creation of the monument.
The final stage of the action was attended by the First vice-rector of VSMU Alina Shchupakova, the employees and students, as well as the representatives of public organizations of the University.
The collected coins were weighed, then they were poured into a special commemorative bag, which will be handed over to the organizers of the project. At the end, the bag was solemnly sealed so that in the future the coins would become a part of the monument to the liberators.
We are looking forward to the opening of the third monument in Moscow, which will become another symbol of the unbreakable bond between Belarus and Russia, respect for history and gratitude to those who gave us a peaceful sky above our heads!
