On March 20, 2025, the Rector of VSMU Alexey Chukanov held a meeting with the Director General of the Association of East European Universities (AEEU) Bogdan Voronovsky, during which the parties signed an agreement on VSMU joining the international organization. Also the guest was welcomed by the representatives of the Department of International and Interregional Relations Sharykhina Elena and Pchelintseva Anna and the Dean of the Faculty of Overseas Student’s Training Vyacheslav Pobiarzhin. An important outcome of the negotiations was also the agreement on joint work on attracting talented students from different countries of the world to study at VSMU.
Membership in the Association opens new horizons for the University. The AEEU, uniting leading universities of Eastern Europe, offers search and development of academic mobility programs, scientific research and promotion of educational initiatives in the international educational market.
“This is another step forward for our university,” emphasized the Rector of VSMU. - Integration into the international educational space has always been one of our priorities. I am sure that cooperation with AEEU will not only strengthen the university's position in the region, but also make it more attractive for applicants from all over the world”.
The meeting paid special attention to internationalization issues. The Association will actively assist VSMU in attracting foreign students, using its resources to promote the University in the countries of Asia, Africa, Middle East and Latin America. It is planned to organize joint educational exhibitions, information campaigns and adaptation programs for future students.
The signing of the agreement with AEEU is another step within the framework of the VSMU diversification strategy. The University plans to more actively develop double degree programs, expand the list of English-language courses and launch joint research with foreign colleagues. All this makes VSMU a key player in shaping the future of medical education not only in Belarus, but also far beyond its borders.
