In the focus of attention - the first workplace of VSMU graduates

On March 5, 2025, the administration of Vitebsk State Medical University headed by the Rector Alexey Chukanov visited medical institutions of Minsk region - Krupsk and Barysov central district hospitals, Barysov hospital No. 2, Barysov maternity hospital and Zhodino central city hospital, etc. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with potential jobs and working conditions for graduates of VSMU.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with potential jobs and working conditions of the university graduates who are assigned to the above mentioned institutions.

During the meeting with young specialists and interns, the level of professional training of the graduates was assessed and their concerns were studied. Attention was paid to both professional and social and legal aspects, which play an important role in successful adaptation of young doctors.

The Rector of VSMU Alexey Chukanov emphasized: “We strive to make each of our graduates feel confident and comfortable in their workplace. Our task is not only to provide quality education, but also to provide support at all stages of professional development. We are proud of our young specialists and believe in their success”.

Alla Karpeychik, a young specialist of Krupsk CRH, an ophthalmologist, said during the meeting: “I am very satisfied with my place of work. Here I feel a connection with the university, which gave me a strong base of knowledge and skills. My work term is coming to an end, but I plan to stay here because I see opportunities for professional growth and development. In addition, our hospital implements modern technologies and techniques, which allows me to keep abreast of the latest medical advances. I am sure that this place will help me to become a real professional in my field”.

During the dialog, special attention was paid to the issues of internship, labor rights of young specialists and their adaptation in new teams. The participants had an opportunity to ask their questions and get detailed answers from the representatives of VSMU administration.

Such meetings play an important role in identifying current problems faced by graduates and allow for the development of measures to improve the medical training system. They also strengthen the link between the educational institution and practitioners, creating a strong bridge between theory and practice. 

“Medicine is not just a profession, it is a vocation. And we must do everything to make young doctors feel part of a big team ready to support them at every stage”, - noted Denis Lits, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Organizational and Legal Work of VSMU.

The visit included an open and sincere dialog with young specialists and interns who have already started their professional path in medicine.

The meeting became one more step to create favorable conditions for professional growth of young specialists.
