VSMU held a gala event to commemorate the 77th Independence Anniversary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, organized by the students of the Sri Lankan Compatriotic Society.

During the celebration the students demonstrated fiery colorful dances, filled with energy and grace, and songs sung with soul, transporting the audience to a distant island in the Indian Ocean. Musical performances of the groups “Lunu Dehi” and “Thala” added a special charm and mood to the event, and interesting facts about the history, culture and nature of Sri Lanka allowed the guests to deeply understand and feel the uniqueness of this country.

The Rector of the University Alexey Chukanov congratulated the students on the holiday, wished them peace, kindness and prosperity.

 The event became a true celebration of friendship!
