On February 14, 2025, the students of the Vitebsk State Medical University took part in the qualifying stage of the Republican Youth Project “100 Ideas for Belarus”.

The 6th year student of the VSMU Kubrakov Kirill presented a joint project with Pozdeev Nikita, a student of the Vorone State University. Masherova, called “Appendix for computer diagnosis of brain tumors based on artificial intelligence according to medical visualization”, made under the leadership of MD, professor of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Kubrakov Konstantin and candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, assistant professor of VSU named after Masherov - Korchevskaya Elena.

The authors of the project propose to diagnose tumors of the brain using a neural network. Artificial intelligence scans pictures, diagnoses, and with an accuracy of a millimeter determines the size of the affected area.

Kirill Kubrakov: “In its essence, this is a unique project. We studied, of course, the question of whether there are any similar developments in the CIS countries or far abroad. And we did not find direct analogues. Even at this stage of the project there is implementation. This neural network was tested at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. And we received a patent. ”

The project was highly appreciated and the unanimous decision of the judges received a ticket to the grand finals of the competition “100 Ideas for Belarus”!
