On February 14, 2025, an event was held within the walls of the Vitebsk State Medical University, which will be remembered for a long time to all its participants. On the eve of the week of their native language, the students and teachers met with Igor Leonovich Kopylov, the director of the branch of the “Institute of Linguistics named after Yakub Kolas” of the State Scientific Institution “Center for the Study of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” and Elvira Valerievna Yarmolenko, the candidate of philological sciences, leading Researcher at the Department of History of the Belarusian Language of the Institute of Linguistics named after Yakub Kolas.

The event began with a warm greeting by the Rector of the University, Alexei Nikolayevich Chukanov, who emphasized the importance of preserving and learning his native language as the basis of national identity.

The Representatives of the VSMU administration, students, teachers and employees gathered in the hall.

The accent of the meeting was the presentation of the book “Belarusian Language from“ a ” to “z  ”. This is not just a publication, but a real guide for the history and wealth of the Belarusian language. The book contains key moments in the development of the language, amazing language facts that inspire love and appreciate their native word.

The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The students actively asked questions, and teachers shared their impressions. Many noted that such events not only expand the horizons, but also inspire more deeply to study and value their native language more.

The event became a real holiday of a word that reminded everyone present that language is not just a tool of communication, but a living story, culture and soul of the people. The VSMU once again proved that science and education are not only about medicine, but also about the preservation of national heritage.
