The only Voter Center opened in the educational institution arouses interest not only among the students of VSMU, but also among the youth of Vitebsk region.

On December 27, 2024 young journalists of Medialaboratory of Vitebsk region visited the VSMU Voter Center.

The participants of the excursion were welcomed by the Rector of the University Aleksey Chukanov, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Organizational and Legal Work Denis Lits, the Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work Dmitry Kuzhel and the Head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of VSMU Svyatoslav Kulik.

As Alexey Chukanov, the Rector of the University noted: “The Voter's Center was formed to familiarize students, including first-time voters, with the voting procedure. It allows to prepare young people for an important and responsible event - participation in elections, to form knowledge and correct skills, which are necessary for young voters”.

The excursion was conducted by Denis Lits, who familiarized the guys with all the stages of the electoral process, told about the main functions of the election commission and observers, showed samples of ballots for voting, familiarized with the legal framework.

Svyatoslav Kulik, the Head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, told about the work of the School of Young Voter functioning in VSMU.

After the excursion the guys took part in the dialog platform “Presidential Republic: the voice of youth”.

The excursion for young journalists to the VSMU Voter Center became not only an educational experience, but also an important step in the formation of active citizenship among young people. The participants had a unique opportunity to ask questions, discuss topical issues and learn about the importance of their vote in elections.
