On November 29, 2024, VSMU hosted table tennis, darts and badminton competitions among the employees of healthcare organizations of the Vitebsk region for the "Cup in Memory of the Rector of VSMI (1979-1996), Professor M.G. Sachek".

The sports competitions were organized jointly by the regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers and Vitebsk State Medical University.

The following were present at the opening ceremony: the Head of the Main Healthcare Department of the Vitebsk Region Mikhail Vishnevetsky, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers Vladimir Plytkevich, the First Vice-Rector of VSMU Alina Shchupakova, the heads of the trade union committee of the  employees and the university veteran organization.

At the end of the competition, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers Vladimir Plytkevich and the First Vice-Rector of VSMU Alina Shchupakova addressed the winners and prize-winners with words of congratulations. Then the award ceremony took place.
