On the last evening of October, the concert hall "Vitebsk" was filled with the sounds of music, the shine of costumes and the light of smiles – the students and staff of VSMU gathered for the Autumn Ball, in honor of the anniversary of their beloved university.
Polonaise, waltz, quadrille, polka, cotillion - these almost forgotten dances seemed to have found a second life at our ball. Moreover, their teachers waltzed along with the students.
The highlight of the evening's program was the performances of the creative teams of the VSMU student club: "Quickstep", "Tandem", "Expression", "Millenium" shone on the parquet.
And the culmination of the evening was the announcement of the King and Queen of the Ball, who were determined by a competent jury of teachers and the university staff. So, Polina Sinyakova and Maxim Milevich were recognized as the best couple of the ball!
The autumn ball, without a doubt, became the highlight of the program of festive events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of VSMU!
As the student organizers of the ball, Kirill Kubrakov and Anastasia Matyushchenko, note: “This year we had only a month to prepare and we rehearsed almost every day. We managed to stage more dances than last year, to implement those ideas that had not worked out before, for example, the king and queen of the ball competition. We think it was very interesting. And in general, our autumn ball was held exactly as we planned it - large-scale and beautiful!”
Polina Sinyakova, a student of the Faculty of Medicine: “The atmosphere of the preparation and the event itself was wonderful, during this time all the participants became one big family. It was not difficult for me to prepare at all, since I had been doing ballroom dancing for 10 years. I was lucky that I had a partner for this event who was ready to learn to dance both the polka and the square dance from scratch. Despite the difficulties, we succeeded and today we became the king and queen of the ball.” Yegor Andreev, a student of the Faculty of Dentistry: “The event impressed me very much, especially with its preparation. Never before have I put in so much effort! Each rehearsal took place in a warm atmosphere and was like a holiday. I hope that the tradition of holding an autumn ball will be preserved at our university in the future.”
