On September 26-27, 2024, the II Republican Scientific and Methodological Conference "Military Medicine. History and Modernity" was held at Vitebsk State Medical University.

The opening of the conference was attended by the head of the main department of health of the Vitebsk regional executive committee Mikhail Vishnevetsky, the chairman of the Vitebsk district council of deputies Viktor Dorozhkin, the representative of the Military Commissariat of the Vitebsk region, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Glushanov, the head of the medical service of military unit 52287, major of the medical service Valery Vasilevsky, the rector of VSMU Alexey Chukanov, teachers and students of the university.

The event was held in order to summarize the experience of modern methods of training military doctors and medical specialists in disaster medicine in emergency situations, exchange practical experience and the latest achievements of military medical science. The conference is especially relevant, since the situation that has developed around the Republic of Belarus forces us to accelerate the modernization of the medical support system, taking into account the experience of military operations.

The representatives of VSMU and other medical universities, as well as specialists from Rostov-on-Don, took part in the work of sections on military field surgery, historical, methodological and pedagogical aspects of military medicine with reports. Experts also spoke about the experience of medical workers of the Vitebsk region during the Great Patriotic War. Issues of infectious diseases, epidemiology, immunopathology, etc. were also discussed.

Master classes were held on obtaining antiseptic and disinfectants in field conditions and disinfection of premises using the aerosol method, on providing first aid in hazardous conditions.
