In order to improve the quality of training in internship  the administration of Vitebsk State Medical University regularly conducts visits to internship bases and meetings with the administration of healthcare institutions, mentors, young specialists and interns.

On September 11, 2024, VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov met with interns and young specialists working at Gomel clinical bases. In order to directly familiarize himself with the working and living conditions of young specialists  Alexey Nikolaevich visited hospital departments and dormitories.

More than 80 young specialists and interns from among the graduates of medical universities of the country took part in the meeting in the Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital. During the lively dialogue, various issues of concern to interns and young specialists were discussed - from professional development to living conditions. The Rector of Gomel State Medical University Igor Stoma, the Chief Physician of the City Clinical Hospital Andrey Tabankov and the Head of the Personnel Department of the State Healthcare Institution Lyudmila Pechurina also took part in the discussion of issues of training and internship.

Also during the visit a meeting was held between the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Organizational and Legal Work of VSMU Denis Lits and young specialists and interns of the Gomel City Emergency Hospital, Gomel Central City Polyclinic, Gomel Regional Stomatological Polyclinic and the Regional Specialized Clinical Hospital. At the meetings with the heads of these institutions problematic issues related to supporting graduates of medical universities were discussed.
