The meeting of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the students of the Vitebsk region universities took place on September 2, 2024, at Vitebsk State University.

The students and staff of VSMU, headed by Rector Alexei Chukanov, also took part in this significant meeting.

Before the event Alexander Lukashenko got acquainted with the exhibition of scientific results of the universities of the Vitebsk region, where the VSMU stand was also presented. It was no coincidence that the event was held in the format of an "open microphone", because the Head of State is confident that it is through free dialogue that he can discuss all the issues of interest together with the students and hear from them fresh ideas and proposals that may be useful for the development of the country.

The main ideas that the President voiced in his speech:

Continuing the progressive development of Belarus as an independent country in today's rapidly changing world is a difficult task that can only be solved by strong-willed, prepared and highly qualified people. Therefore, young people need to prepare for such a mission of their own.

We need to compete with dignity in the technological race in the field of science, economics and social relations.

Special attention was paid to textbooks, namely the accessibility of the presentation of the material, its modernity and correctness.

Then Alexander Lukashenko talked to the students, answered their questions of interest, of which there were many.

The students were left with many impressions from the meeting, the main ones being: you can talk to the President on equal terms and he is a real leader of the nation!

The beginning of the school year for students turned out to be bright and very original.
