As part of the academic mobility program, the 4th and the 5th year students of VSMU General Medicine Faculty received a unique opportunity to undergo practical internship at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (Moscow, Russian Federation). As part of the inter-university cooperation agreement, our students were at Moscow clinical sites from July 8 to 19.
The practice program was very intense. Thus, the 4th year students of General Medicine Faculty were assigned to the Diagnostic Clinical Center No. 1, where they were able to fully familiarize themselves with the organization of Moscow outpatient clinic. On the very first day, they familiarized themselves with the structure of the outpatient clinic, and then the future doctors were involved in working with general practitioners, specialists (endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, etc.).
The 5th year students of General Medicine Faculty were sent to undergo medical practice at Moscow Multidisciplinary Clinical Center "Kommunarka".
One of the newest medical complexes in Russia warmly welcomed future doctors and provided an opportunity to fully master the practical skills and abilities they need.
As part of the practice, the students were given a tour of the center, introduced to the work of the inpatient department, and taught how to record the work performed in the information system "Infoklinika". Future doctors practiced their skills on the department's laparoscopic simulator, and also attended and assisted in high-tech medical interventions.
The 5th year student Elizaveta Kharitonovich shares her impressions of the practice: "As soon as I saw the news about the opportunity to undergo a section of the practice in Moscow, I immediately submitted an application and I do not regret it. This year we were incredibly lucky with the base – a new modern high-tech hospital. Of course, I heard about Kommunarka, but only when I saw it in person I did understand the full scale of the center. The doctors of the center, especially the Abdominal Oncology Department, welcomed us warmly and were very interested in teaching us something new, showing us new treatment approaches or explaining why a particular treatment approach is used for a particular patient."
During these 2 weeks, our students were given the opportunity to get to know the city and its sights. The students preferred to spend their leisure time actively: they went for srtolls, went to museums and theaters, made friends with students from Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.
