On July 3, 2024, the VSMU staff and students, led by the University Rector Alexei Chukanov, took part in a gala event dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

Columns of the representatives of Vitebsk districts and labor collectives of the city marched in a solemn procession from Pobedy Square to Victory Square.

Creative groups performed for the audience, and young athletes also showed their skills.

The memory of the fallen was honored with a minute of silence.
