On January 11, 2024, VSMU hosted the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the Honored Scientist of the BSSR, Honorary Academician of the Belarusian Academy of Medical Sciences, Honorary Citizen of Vitebsk, Person of the Year of the Vitebsk Region, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mikhail Grigorievich Sachek.

The purpose of the exhibition is to preserve traditions and continuity of generations at VSMU.

Mikhail Grigorievich was the rector of the Vitebsk State Medical Institute from 1979 to 1996, he trained a large number of highly professional doctors and teachers who are still the employees of the university today, continuing to develop its scientific and pedagogical school.

VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov addressed the guests of the event with a welcoming speech. Mikhail Grigorievich was also remembered with warmth and respect by his students Lyudmila Sharkova - the Associate Professor of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy, and Igor Generalov - the Head of the Department of Clinical Microbiology at VSMU.

Mikhail Grigorievich is a man of high culture, a rich spiritual world, a true example of hard work, human wisdom, sensitive and attentive attitude towards people.
