On December 18, 2023, the university staff and students gathered on the VSMU square to take part in the festive event “Let’s light the VSMU Christmas tree together.”

The Vice-Rector for Educational Work Natalya Boltrushevich, on behalf of the University Rector Alexei Chukanov, congratulated those gathered on the upcoming holidays and wished them good health, prosperity, peace, goodness and a New Year's miracle.

A musical composition performed by the pop song studio “Tandem” gave all those present a festive mood. But before calling Santa Claus and lighting the Christmas tree, a sporting event took place - tug of war, in which the teams from VSMU dormitories took part. The team from hostel No. 4 won, the team from hostel No. 6 took 2nd place, and the team from hostel No. 8 took 3rd place.

And finally, what everyone had been waiting for so long happened - the tree shone with bright lights. Both the students and university staff danced in circles to the accompaniment of merry New Year's songs.
