On November 30, 2023, the Student Olympiad in Aesthetic Dentistry took place. The purpose of the event was to improve the theoretical and practical training of future dentists, expand their medical horizons, develop clinical thinking and motivate students to acquire knowledge and professional competencies.

32 4-5 year students of the dental faculty of the educational institution “Vitebsk State Order of Peoples’ Friendship Medical University” took part in the Olympiad.

The rector of the university A.N. Chukanov, the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry I.Yu. Karpuk, the head of the student scientific circle of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics with the FAT and Retraining, Associate Professor O.A. Zharkova addressed the participants of the Olympiad with a welcoming speech.

The Olympics included II competitive stages. Stage I included test tasks concerning the anatomical features of the structure of teeth, age-related morphology of hard tissues, and aspects of dental restoration technology. Based on the results of the points scored in the first round, 12 students were selected who continued to participate in the practical stage. Participants in the second round had to perform a direct restoration of the first lower molar using composite material on a phantom tooth model.

All participants coped with the task. Based on the results of completing the task of the 2nd round, the jury determined the winners of the Olympiad, who were awarded diplomas:

1st place – Lineva Anna Alekseevna;

2nd place – Egorov Pavel Konstantinovich;

3rd place – Khimdiat Amira Ikhabovna;

4th place – Gara Daniil Sergeevich.

The Olympiad charged students with positivity, helped consolidate theoretical knowledge and improve manual skills, and also allowed future young specialists to express themselves.
