Dear Colleagues!

The Organizing Committee invites you to take part in the Botkin Readings, which will take place on December 21, 2023.

“Botkin Readings” (hereinafter referred to as the Readings) will be held in the format of an open discussion on the topic “Problematic Issues of Medicine and Pastoral Practice” with the participation of managers, doctors and employees of the practical healthcare system of the Republic of Belarus, the clergy of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, teachers and students of medical higher education institutions and colleges, tutors, public organizations, volunteers.

Based on the results of the work, it is planned to adopt a Resolution.

Problem field of Readings:

- issues of interaction between the state and the Orthodox Church in the field of protecting the health of citizens of the Republic of Belarus;

- current problems of biomedical ethics and deontology in Belarus, problems of Orthodox biomedical ethics;

- features of pastoral service in state and non-state medical and medical-social institutions;

- exchange of experience in providing medical, social and spiritual assistance in the Republic of Belarus;

-exchange of practical experience of clergy and doctors in providing assistance to terminal patients;

- palliative care in modern conditions, including features of care for seriously ill patients;

- experience in interaction between the healthcare system and the BPC in the field of pre-natal counseling and life preservation;

- experience of the Belarusian health care system and the Orthodox Church in developing skills in a multi-team approach when organizing palliative care for cancer patients.
