In October 6, 2016 Republican scientific and practical conference “Innovational Methods in Geriatrics” was held in Minsk.

Professor of Therapy Department, Geriatrics and Anti-Age Medicine of Advanced Training Institute of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, a senior researcher at the Department of Clinical Gerontology of Scientific Research Medical Center “Gerontology”, MD Gorelik S.G. presented the report “Geriatric Approach to Geriatrics”

Scientific secretary of the Belarusian Republican Gerontological Public Association, Dean of the Faculty of Health Protection at Vitebsk State Medical University, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, MD, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Docent Olenskaya T.L. presented the report “The Syndrome of Cognitive Impairment in Elderly: Basic Aspects of Medical and Social Rehabilitation”.

08.08-13.08.2016г. – students participation in mini-forum of active rehabilitation for people with cervical spine injury “TETRA” as assistants, Minsk;

VSMU is the first medical university of the Republic of Belarus, which has its own preparatory department abroad. The idea of ​​preparatory departments or international educational centers of the university started up long ago, and came from the necessity of internationalization of medical education. At preparatory department students are trained according to the guidelines and programs of the university by qualified specialists of a foreign center-partner. Training lasts an academic year, with compulsory formative assessment. The members of the university admission committee conduct end-of-course assessment directly at the educational center. The results of assessment are equal to the results of entrance examinations and allow applicants to participate in the competition for admission to the Vitebsk State Medical University.

The delegation of Slovakia headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary Mr. Joseh Migash paid a snap visit to Vitebsk State Order of Peoples’ Friendship Medical University on March 30, 2016. The Rector of VSMU Professor A. T. Shchastniy, Vice-rector of Educational Work and International Affairs Professor N.Y. Konevalova, Vice-rector of Ideological Affairs O.A. Syrodoyeva and Head of Department on International Affairs M. M. Savchuk, Candidate of Medical Science, took part in the meeting with the Ambassador and his party. Foreign diplomats’ visit consisted in becoming acquainted with our university, to meet and discuss with university’s administration the opportunities of future straight scientific and academic cooperation. The Ambassador expressed his personal wish to promote the consolidation of friendly and business relationships between VSMU and medical universities in Slovakia.

On March 29, 2016, the delegation of Maldives Medical and Dental Council visited our university. The President of the Medical and Dental Council Dr. Abdulla Afeef, official representative of the Council Mr. Murad Moosa and the Rector of VSMU A. T. Shchastniy, Doctor of Medical Science, held a meeting to discuss issues relating to recognition of our university in Maldives and future opportunities for cooperation and training the citizens of this island state at VSMU. After the meeting the delegation was taken around the university to see its material and technical facilities, attended lectures and academic classes, visited clinical departments of the university.
