Department of ecological and preventive medicine

The employees of the department actively carry out scientific, educational, educational, methodological and ideological educational work. The department trains 2nd and 3rd year students of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Training of Foreign Citizens, 2nd and 3rd year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics, 2nd year students of the Faculty of Dentistry in the disciplines “Radiation and Environmental Medicine”, “General Hygiene”, “General Hygiene and Military Hygiene”, “Hygiene of children and adolescents.” In all disciplines taught at the department, in order to effectively conduct the educational process, employees participate in the development of educational and methodological complexes, including in electronic form, and also use innovative teaching methods.

Teachers of the department have more than 400 scientific publications, 22 patents, 7 pharmacopoeial articles, more than 30 instructions for use, more than 30 rationalization proposals. The staff of the department takes an active part in the public life of the university, in promoting hygienic knowledge among the population, providing advisory assistance to practical healthcare, teachers are members of the Republican educational, methodological and problem commissions, specialized councils for the defense of dissertations.

In 2020, the Department of General Hygiene and Ecology was renamed and functions as the Department of Environmental and Preventive Medicine of the Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University. The structural unit of the department is the Scientific and Practical Center for Disinfectology of VSMU, created in accordance with the order of the Rector of VSMU No. 83-od-a dated March 25, 2020.
